Bank robber tied to 4 heists in 3 weeks

A bank robber on Monday struck for the fourth time in the last three weeks as he made off with an undisclosed amount of cash from a Citizens Bank branch in Mayfair, according to the Philadelphia FBI office.

The suspect, described by authorities as a white man in his 20s, entered the bank at 7327 Frankford Ave. at 12:33 p.m., presented a threatening demand note to a teller and fled with the cash, the FBI said. He may have headed northbound on Frankford Avenue in an older-model cream-colored Mazda sedan driven by another male.

Investigators believe that the same man also robbed a Wells Fargo Bank at 340 S. Second St. on Nov. 29, a PNC Bank at 6855 Frankford Ave. on Dec. 7, and a Firstrust Bank at 7345 Frankford Ave. on Dec. 14, all in similar fashion.

No weapons or injuries were reported in any of the heists, although the suspect is considered armed and dangerous. He is further described as about 5-feet-8-inches tall with a medium build, brown hair and scruffy facial hair. In earlier robberies, he had longer curly hair that appeared to have been trimmed prior to Monday’s heist.

On Monday, he wore large aviator glasses, red Phillies cap and a gray hooded sweatshirt. Previously, he’d worn a Phillies jacket and dark gloves.
